Boss Bitch Spotlight: Gemmist

Haircare is inevitably an important part of any human's routine, but finding the best haircare for you can take some work, some trail and error. Gemmist takes the work out of finding the best hair products for your head of hair. On the Gemmist website, you can take an easy hair quiz and they provide you with a shampoo and conditioner that will best suit your hair and its needs. When I took the quiz, I found out that in order to get my hair the moisture and clean it deserves, I needed shampoo number 6 and conditioner number 13, now it has changed to conditioner number 12 because of my new hair goals. Take the quiz here: https://www.gemmist.com/ and start having the best hair of your life today!

I got to interview Kelly Duff, Art Director at Gemmist, and she answered my questions like this:

People who live their lives unapologetically inspire me. I deeply admire folx who are able to push aside doubts when making risky decisions.

What’s your sign and how do you think that plays a part in your life?

I am a Pisces/Pisces/Capricorn. I lead with emotion (Pisces) and am able to insert some logic and organization of thoughts (Capricorn) when the situation calls for it.

What is the main purpose of your account/brand?

To take the guesswork out of finding haircare that works on your hair. When you’re having a good hair day, you feel unstoppable. Feeling unstoppable is empowering.

What is something you love deeply about yourself?

I love my ability to connect with people and ability to communicate my feelings.

What’s some advice you have for other people revolving around confidence?

Start by telling yourself “I am awesome” every day. You don’t have to believe it--just tell yourself every day “I am awesome.” And, one day, you will start to believe yourself.

What makes you feel confident?

When others have confidence in me.

What have you had to overcome that’s made you who you are?

I am actively learning how to take “should” out of my vocabulary when speaking about my wants and needs.

Who are your biggest inspirations?

Strangers on the internet.

What’s your beauty/fashion go to?

SPF

What would you say is the best thing about you?

My energy.

What does equality mean to you?

Equality is granting everyone the same rights. However, I focus my attention on equity. Equity is recognizing that everyone has different needs and working together to meet folx where they are in order to help them to get to where they are going.
